Members of Adams County Sports Hall of Fame

Once again, it is time to submit nomination forms for possible inductees into the Adams County Sports Hall of Fame. Your membership in our organization allows for participation in choosing nominees for induction, as well as casting a ballot for those so named. A Hall of Fame is a lot more than an overblown closet for some old relics. It is intended to be a repository for all things great about a sport; its moments, its men and women, and its methods.  Most of all, it is supposed to be about Hall of Famers who define the quality of athletics and who lead the right kind of life; a life of integrity for which there is no compromise. The Adams County Sports Hall of Fame exists to perpetuate the memory of individuals who have brought lasting fame and recognition to Adams County and its people through their achievements in and contributions to athletics. You are again invited to participate in that process.
 
If you are not a lifetime member, your dues of $15 are due at this time. Only those persons whose dues have been paid for this year are eligible to nominate new inductees and to vote on the ballot. If you do not have a lifetime membership you might wish to purchase it for $150. Send the nomination form and dues, to:  Adams County Sports Hall of Fame, c/o Ed Riggs, Historian, 30 W. Broadway, Gettysburg, PA 17325 postmarked no later than June 27, 2026. Additionally, please include your email, as we will be updating our files and plan more communication electronically in the future.
 
A nomination form is available here. Please fill it out as completely as possible. Each year applications are rejected because the evaluation committee does not have enough information to consider that individual for the ballot. Nominees may be living or deceased, as we may elect five living and two deceased each year. Individuals nominated for induction must have brought fame and recognition through their contributions in athletics while participating with an Adams County based sports organization, or who maintained residency in Adams County while participating elsewhere. Also eligible are those persons who have brought similar recognition to Adams County through their contribution to sports in general or in managerial, promotional or other influential capacities. The criteria for induction into the ACSHOF are:  1) Nominees must be at least fifty-five years of age, or 2) have had twenty-five years of active participation, or 3) at any age, have not been active for at least three years in the sport.
 
Ballots will be mailed to members in early August. Those persons elected for induction will be notified by the beginning of September. Our induction dinner will be on November 7, 2026, in the Atrium on the campus of Gettysburg College. In 2026, we will be celebrating our 25^th year of existence, and we expect it to be a great gala event.
 
We would like to increase our membership numbers. If you have any family or friends who may be interested in joining our cause, please share the enclosed membership form with them. We also encourage those members who have been inducted into the ACSHOF in the past to pay membership dues in order to stay involved by nominating and voting for new inductees. We are only as strong as our membership, and we look to the future as the organization continues to grow.
