Meckley excelled as an athlete at Hanover High School and Gettysburg College before really making his mark on the local sports scene as a wrestling official. Wrestling to a sectional championship and regional qualifier in high school, Meddey went on to letter for four years at Gettysburg. He also had a standout career as a linebacker on the Bulle football team. As a wrestling official since 1978, Meckley has officiated at the PIAA championships, as ell as the NCAA Division III and Division I tournaments. He has served as the Rules Interpreter for the Greater York Wrestling Officials Chapter for over 20 years, and is a member of the YAlAA restling Official’s Executive Committee. Meckley has been the #1 ranked PIAA official multiple times throughout his career. He also was the head wrestling coach and coached football at Gettysburg High School from 1975-1983, and served as athletic director for several years at Littlestown High School, here he ended his career as the school principal Meckley was inducted into the District 3 Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of in 2023.
